About Me
Joe Nicholls is a London-based cinematographer and colourist. He studied filmmaking at the BRIT School, where he earned a distinction and made a short film that won a BFI award, then went on to do his degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, with an exchange year in Toronto.
Culling, the graduation film he shot and graded, won Best Cinematography at Manchester Met's 2026 Filmmaking Awards, judged by Roger and James Deakins. It's also a 2026 British Society of Cinematographers undergraduate short film nominee.
In January he starts the Cinematography course at the National Film and Television School.
Joe has also worked as a freelancer for well-known DJs like Mala (DMZ) and for venues like Phonox and Fabric, shooting music videos, commercials and live sessions. He's constantly trying new things with his style and is always learning new skills.
